Artistic Currents is a magazine catered to art enthusiasts, creative professionals, and individuals with a keen interest in diverse art forms and current world events. The magazine needed a cover illustration founded on a strong and interesting idea that tells a story about sense of place and locale.

This illustration explores how humans’ sense of place is linked strongly to nature and health of Earth’s ecosystems, and how unsustainable development threatens communities’ and ecosystems’ adaptability to climate change.

In this artwork, I wanted to convey the impact of the environmental destruction as to prompt better design from developers. My hope is that this message will encourage behaviour change to fulfill the pressing need for housing without compromising on human and environmental health.
